Where did Lyon Work & Rescue come from?
Lyon Work & Rescue’s roots trace back to 1965 when our founder Ben Lyon, along with his brother Graham, started making and selling caving ladders, earning money to fuel their passion for adventure. The name Lyon Ladders was registered in 1973, in the same year Ben, along with friend Mike Meredith, took a party of cavers to France and called in on Fernand Petzl's 3-man workshop. Mike then started importing Petzl to the UK, handing this over to Ben in in 1974, making 'Lyon' the first overseas Petzl distributor. This was to become the foundation of Lyon Equipment Ltd.

Building on our expertise and our offering of the best technical equipment on the market, our Work & Rescue division was established to provide specialist support to those individuals and organisations that operate at height or in challenging locations.
Over the years we have played a leading role in the development of safety at height globally, including being a founding member of IRATA. We continue to take a lead on driving safety practices at height across the UK and further afield.
Using our knowledge of equipment and its application in the real world we have partnered with leading rescue organisations to developed bespoke products and training that meet their specific and demanding needs.
With 50 years of expertise behind us, we are proud to be the go-to company for the best equipment, training and technical knowledge for the Work & Rescue industry.
